Welcome back.
Hi, so yes, I’ve dusted off my old Substack and am retiring my Letterdrop. Unfortunately, it looks like Letterdrop has not been able to hold its own in the market and only seems able to thrive by requiring paid tiers (te prices are insane, btw- $99 per month for the basic tier, what?), and I refuse to do this. This blog is a passion, a labor of love that I refuse to have money influence in any way. The fact that I left Substack after discomfort at seeing who some of the site’s top profiters were will help ease this worry I have. For now, anyway.
Unfortunately, while I was hoping to import my Letterdrop posts onto here, that doesn’t seem doable for the time being. For now, I’m going to pin this post and link to my previous blog as a hope to archive the previous posts that weren’t able to make the jump, and a LOT has changed since I last posted here. Hell, I didn’t even touch Buffy on Substack, and we’re nearing the end here. Another option is to switch to another blog site, but I worry about the same thing happening. For better or worse, Substack won the subscriber blog wars, and I don’t have enough power to stage a coup, or at this point, the interest.
Right now, my top priority is to make sure that I finish my OTH series. I’ve already copy and pasted this week’s Simpsons post, which will be up tomorrow as usual, and I intend to do the same and finish Tuesday’s Buffy post right after sharing this. But I’m going to see if there’s another way to import my Letterdrop work on here, and if not, I may consider posting at least the OTH articles manually, possibly when I’m on winter hiatus. I’ll make sure to not leave email notifications for those.
But speaking of which, please make sure that you’re still subscribed! Or if you’re not, do so now, what’s wrong with you?
